Travel back in time with us as we walk along the streets and on top of the walls of the Old City of Manila. Intramuros, literally meaning within the walls, is the old Spanish capital and the most historic site in the whole city! Enjoy fantastic vistas, traditional food, and historic finds with us!
Meetup at Guest’s Hotel (in Metro Manila Area)
Start your Intramuros Exploration with a guided tour of the Manila Cathedral and Plaza Roma!
The seat of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, the Manila Cathedral has faced centuries of reconstruction and survival. Plaza Roma, the main social space of the walled city, is surrounded by the most important edifices of pre-independence Manila!
We’ll then take a short walk to Fort Santiago, the old bastion of the Spanish Empire in the Far East. First built in 1574, the Fort has been the home of the Spanish, British, American, and Japanese forces during their occupations of Manila. The Fort now serves as a shrine dedicated to the legacy of the Philippines’ National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, who spent his last days incarcerated within the thick walls of the Fort.
After our tour of the Fort and its surroundings, we’ll take an e-trike to San Agustin Church, the oldest surviving structure in Manila! The current church dates back to the 18th century and has seen countless wars and upheavals. After which, we’ll cross the road to go back in time in the Casa Manila Museum, an approximation of what 19th century Manila homes would have looked like inside and out.
From the past, we’ll move back to the present and make our way to Silahis Arts and Crafts Center, where you can explore the massive guest center and shop for souvenirs from Manila!
Then we’ll end a tour with a short walk along the walls where we’ll find Baluarte de San Francisco, the best preserved fortification of Intramuros, and the Puerta Parian and ASEAN Park Center before ending in front of the Manila Cathedral.
